Dear Station Ave Families,

      We hope you have been enjoying summer and time with your family. We are so lucky to live on beautiful Cape Cod with proximity to such a range of beaches and summertime activities. With the start of school fast approaching I wanted to reach out with a few updates and reminders.

Assistant Principal Update: Kelly Bohl has accepted an opportunity at Marguerite E Small Elementary School. This is a loss for our school, but we wish her all of the best in pursuit of continued leadership experience. We are lucky to have the support of retired SAE Assistant Principal Patti Leary during the interim, while we conduct a full and rigorous search. The Assistant Principal position for SAE has been posted and interviews will be held before the start of school.

Kindergarten Orientation Wednesday, August 26th  3:45 - 4:30 PM K families and students are encouraged to join us at Station Avenue. We will meet in the cafeteria for a quick overview of Kindergarten. Next we will tour K classrooms, a school bus, and end with popsicles on the picnic tables. We hope to see you there!

Playground Update: The timeline for the completion of the playground has been extended to the end of October. The cause for this delay is due to zero bids on the project in the first round. This triggered a second bidding process, which led to a bidder who was outside of our budget projections. In order to reach the gap of funding, a new process was enacted with the support of our Superintendent and D-Y’s new Director of Finance and Operations. While we are disappointed that the playground will not be ready for the start of the school year, we are deeply grateful for the support of the district in closing the project funding gap and helping us to realize this incredible playground. The equipment has been ordered and the installation is scheduled. We are also grateful for the generous SAE community who supported so many fundraisers over the last few years. An alternate recess plan is being made for the first months of the school year.

Classroom Placement: Friendly reminder that we will be releasing classroom placement on Monday, August 18th. You will be able to access the placement information through the ParentSquare portal. The district will be sending further information around how to access it.
