Town of Dennis Recreation Commission

Dennis Recreation Commission - Public Forum on 3/30

The Dennis Recreation Commission will hold a public forum on a proposed community center on Monday, March 30 at 6:30 PM at the DCAL/Senior Center theater room, 1045 Route 134. The project, directed by the Dennis Select Board, is expected to go before voters at the May 2026 Town Meeting for funding of construction plans and a professional cost estimate. The March 30 meeting will include a presentation of preliminary plans and an opportunity for public feedback and questions.

A new community center would provide residents of all ages with a safe, accessible space for recreation, social programs, and community events, including a gymnasium, fitness center, game room, music room, and meeting rooms that can be used for a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, exercise classes, mothers/babies groups, and more.

Attending the March 30 forum gives Dennis residents the opportunity to review preliminary plans, share feedback, and help shape a project that could benefit the community for years to come. We encourage your attendance.

Young Mariner Program

Cape Cod Maritime Museum - Young Mariner Program

The Young Mariner Program is a full-day, Monday–Friday on-the-water summer camp for students entering grades 4 - 7. Campers explore Cape Cod’s marine environment through hands-on, STEM-based activities both on the water and in our museum classroom. Activities include fishing, lobstering, beachcombing, marine science experiments, and learning about local ecosystems and maritime careers.

The program is designed to increase access to maritime education for Cape Cod youth, and we are proud to offer full and partial scholarships to families who may need financial assistance. The goal is to ensure that cost is not a barrier to participating in this experience.
