Cape Cod National Seashore Visits SAE!

On Thursday April 2nd, the National Seashore visited 3rd grade classrooms at SAE. Students used physical traits of synthetic skulls to determine if the animal was a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore, and also studied furs to determine the animal. Huge thanks to 3rd grade teacher Joe White for organizing this exciting visit for our students - we are so lucky to live on Cape Cod and have access to the incredible National Seashore!

Family Book Club: Coming Soon

The Rotary Club of Yarmouth has been a wonderful partner in supporting literacy at our school through their “Vacation Book Club,” generously donating books for every family before school vacations over the past several years.

This year, we are excited to share a new initiative! Each family will receive a chapter book to participate in a Family Book Club—an optional, fun, and screen-free way to read and connect together at home.

Books will be sent home on Friday, April 17th and the first set of family discussion questions and activities will be shared in that week's Friday Newsletter.

The Family Book Club will kick off during vacation week and continue when we return to school, culminating in a final celebration on Thursday, June 4th at our Related Arts Showcase Night.
Below is a preview of the schedule:

Chapter 1-8 - Week of April 27-May 1
Chapter 9-16 - Week of May 4-May 8
Chapter 17- 24 - Week of May 11-May 15
Chapter 25-32 - Week of May 25-May 29
June 4th - Celebration at the Related Arts Showcase Night

We are proud to announce that SAE is a recipient of the Mass Child Book Grant, “For the Love of Books,” offered by the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) and partnering with First Book Marketplace to provide each student in our school with a book. Students will select their books in June at our Summer Reading/Math Fair.

Young Mariner Program

Cape Cod Maritime Museum - Young Mariner Program

The Young Mariner Program is a full-day, Monday–Friday on-the-water summer camp for students entering grades 4 - 7. Campers explore Cape Cod’s marine environment through hands-on, STEM-based activities both on the water and in our museum classroom. Activities include fishing, lobstering, beachcombing, marine science experiments, and learning about local ecosystems and maritime careers.

The program is designed to increase access to maritime education for Cape Cod youth, and we are proud to offer full and partial scholarships to families who may need financial assistance. The goal is to ensure that cost is not a barrier to participating in this experience.
